Hein Vineyard

The Hein Family Vineyard represents excellence in sustainable viticulture and a site that consistently produces superior Pinot Noir. The vineyard is located in the heart of what is called the “Deep End” of Anderson Valley. This area is much cooler than other parts of the region because of its close proximity to the Pacific Ocean. The marine influence brings cool evenings and foggy mornings to create an ideal venue for growing classic Burgundian varietals. The vines were planted 13 years ago to a selection of clones 115, 667, 777, and Pommard. Rows are configured in a south/southwest orientation, which ensures the fruit has every opportunity to ripen properly. Hein is organically farmed and yields precious little fruit—right around 2 tons per acre in a typical vintage. Tasting notes from previous vintages emphasize black cherry, cranberry, earth and fine-grained tannins. We view this unique site as a source of Premier Cru fruit and we are incredibly happy to be able to share it with our customers.
